3 is half of 8, what secret society hacked this cryptic clue in our Arabic Numerals and why?
Q. Davinci was not the only one to encrypt secret messages. Our Arabic numerals is an example-- half of 8 is 4, but only in the mathematical sense (for those right brained thinkers). The Graphic sense (for those left brain thinkers) show us another side, in this case half of 8 is 3. When counting from 1-10 and straight along your fingers (given that you have the standard 10) you will find that 3 and 8 each land on a middle finger. Is this coincidence, or a secret code? Lets explore. The numbers 3 and 8 were changed from their original Arabic characters around 1800 years ago. This is also interesting: Early Pagans -- fertility cult worshipers were often persecuted for their beliefs-- mainly because they worshipped a femal deity equal to that… [cont.]

Will 3 chickens take longer to roast than if I was doing only 1?
Q. I have to roast 3 chickens in my oven all at the same time. Will it take longer than the usual 15-16 min/lb since I have 3 in there?
Asked by GeoL - Mon Jul 28 08:45:59 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No, it will NOT take any longer. As long as you have the oven set to the proper temperature, they will all cook together at the same time! You could have 1,000 chickens in there, the oven will adjust them temperature to cook them together!

How to disconnect one 3 way electrical switch so just the other works by itself?
Q. I have two 3 way electrical switches at the house that run the same light. The wiring going to one of the switches is getting rotten and the switch is unneeded and unused. Is there a way to disconnect the one 3 way switch in where the other will work alone? There are only 3 wires running to each switch. How to get it in where only 1 switch is needed? Im do not really understand the electrician "lingo".What is a feed wire? The house is so old the wires are not color coded. All i know is there is one wire that connects to the switch next to a spot called "com" and the other 2 are connected in 2 other unmarked spots on the switch.

A. You need a normal switch for this. $1 at store. Remove three way switch and replace with normal switch. Take feed wire( from gold screw) attach to switch. Twist other two wires together connect to switch. Remove wires from unwanted switch twist them all together your done. Feed is the hot wire usually black red blue. Travelers are usually two switchleg colors yellow orange brown. Switch leg would odd colored wire. Sometimes electritions do not follow color code. One switch will have feed one will have switch leg. Those wires will be on gold screws. I screwd up but edited out bad info I was making it harder then it had to be.

I have 3 goldfish with a betta. How can i get rid of the goldfish and what fish should i add?
Q. I bought 3 goldfish from walmart with my betta. now, after reading about fish i realized that was a bad idea. where can i take the fish. I do not want to kill them. I would feel bad. Do you think walmart would take them back and give me credit? (although they were only 28 cents each.) i would even give them back free. so if i got rid of them what fish would be good to put with my betta. I have a ten gallon tank. I dont want to spend big money like 2 or 3 bucks a fish would be good.

A. Did you know that those cute little 28 cent feeder fish are actually baby comets that grow up to be at least a foot long! If you want them to find a good home, try craigslist.com On the site look for your city, then go under the pets section. Type in fish under the search box. Depending on where you live, most likely someone will be looking for pond fish. Or maybe they want to rescue them, where I live someone has started a goldfish rescue and they have a HUGE (I believe 500+ gallon pond) for goldies. So once you find the baby comets a good home (with at least 55 gallons per baby comet and a filter with a gallons per hour rate of at least 300 gallons) you want to now what to put with your betta. Honestly, I don't if you could put fish in… [cont.]

A. Different Colors P(White Red Black) = [C(3,1)/C(12,1 x C(4,1)/C(12,1) x C(5,1)/C(12,1)] x P(3,3) = [3/12 x 4/12 x 5/12] x 3! = [3x4x5/12^3] x 3! Same Color P(All White U All Red U All Black) = P(W1 W2 W3) + P(R1 R2 R3) + P(B1 B2 B3) = [C(3,1)/C(12,1)]^3 + [C(4,1)/C(12,1)]^3 + [C(5,1)/C(12,1)]^3 = (3/12)^3 + (4/12)^3 + (5/12)^3 = 3^3 + 4^3 + 5^3/12^3

How big a cage is needed for 3 baby raccoons?
Q. We have had a raccoon before, and successfully reintroduced it to the wild. This year, we were asked to raise 3 orphaned, 2 males, and one female. We do know that the males and female must be separated. They are about 6 weeks old, and they are in 3 x 3 x 3 cages in the house. I need to know how big a cage is needed when they are ready to be put outside. There is no rehab centres locally.

A. I have raised raccoons before too. I had a cage for them outside and it was a huge one, because it had a pool and limbs and all kinds of things so if you want them to be happy and have something to do make it big. I just kept mine in a cage when i was gone somewhere other than that they were in the house or outside with me and yes they were potty trained, it is possible trust me. Try cotton candy mine loved it it is funny when the put in the water first two so you might not want them around water when you give it to them.

What is the concentration of Red 3 in the unknown solution?
Q. John Bier determines that the slope of the line representing the aborbance of a solution of Red 3 at its analytical wavelength as a function of concentration (in mg/L) is .066 L/mg. He measures the absorbance at the same wavelength of a solution of Red 3 of unknown concentration in the same cuvette and finds the absorbance is .11. What is the concentration of Red 3 in the unknown solution? Im so confused, how would you solve this?
Asked by Christie - Mon Jun 4 14:24:27 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you have a graph of absorbance vs concentration, then the equation describing the line will be Abs = (slope) * conc (in the form y = mx + b, where the intercept b should be zero, since zero material will not absorb) Then, the equation is Abs = 0.066 L/mg * conc Plug in the value for absorbance and solve for concentration. conc = Abs / 0.066 L/mg = 0.11 / 0.066 L/mg = 1.67 mg/L

Helium 3 - How long will it take for commercial mining of the moon for Helium 3 to become feasible?
Q. Elemental Helium 3 is rare on the Earth but abundant on the moon. (Although Helium-3 is a byproduct of tritium decay, and tritium can be produced through neutron bombardment of lithium, boron, or nitrogen targets.) More abundant helium-3 is thought to exist on the Moon (embedded in the upper layer of regolith by the solar wind over billions of years) and the solar system's gas giants (left over from the original solar nebula), although still in low quantities (28ppm of lunar regolith is helium-4 and 0.01 ppm is helium-3) D + 3He 4He (3.7 MeV) + p (14.7 MeV) The appeal of helium-3 fusion stems from the nature of its reaction products. A. My daughter is 9 weeks old and she has only fed about 8-10 minutes per breast since birth, and a lot of times it's only one breast that she'll eat. I was worried about it too, thinking she wasn't getting enough, and asked the pediatrician who replied, the older a baby gets the more proficient they get at eating and it takes them about 8 minutes to fully drain a breast. If they stay on a lot longer they're probably doing it for their need to suck, not to eat. As long as your son is having wet/dirty diapers and gaining weight approriately, than he's just a really good eater! Three hour clips at night sounds about right too. If you want to get him to sleep a little longer, try a dream feed, where you feed him, he falls asleep for bedtime… [cont.]

Will 3 goldfish be enough to feed beneficial bacteria in a 55 gallon tank?
Q. Is it OK to keep 3 goldfish in a 55 gallon tank or is it understocking? Will it to be enough to keep the beneficial bacteria alive? They are fancies.
Asked by FishMan - Tue Mar 17 15:14:24 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The amount of bacteria will adjust to match the amount of fish in the tank. So as long as there is any number of fish, there will be some bacteria to match and the tank will stay cycled. The only thing to watch is that the cycle will reduce to a lower level, so you need to take care when adding more fish. Build up the fish numbers slowly over a few weeks to allow the cycle to build up again. Ian

My pug puppies are 3 weeks old today, when do I start intoducing them to moistened puppy food?
Q. I have heard 3 weeks to 4 weeks. Do puppies start nursing less frequent when they hit 3 weeks old? I'm not planning on taking them from their mother until at least 8 weeks old.
Asked by red8chevyracefan - Wed Jan 3 00:33:25 2007 - - 9 Answers - 1 Comments
A. You need to seperate them from their mother far before 8 weeks old. You dont want them nursing that long! You need to ween them at about 4 weeks, because they need their first puppy shots at 6 weeks, and it takes about 2 weeks for the maternal antibodies to fade off, so if you take them off their mommas milk at 4 weeks, they will be protected until they get their first vaccines. Wait a week and then start to soak dry food (small kibbles) in water and have them eat that. Wet food may cause them to have diarrhea, so i would stick with puppy chow. Good Luck!

Q. I've moved in to an older house that doesn't have 3 pin electric outlets in some rooms. How can I use my computer that has a 3 pin plug with these old outlets? Is it safe to use a converter? Is the ground pin important?

A. I would NOT use a computer with any type of adapter. There is no ground. If a surge or a short fries your computer, you will be out of luck. Have a properly grounded receptacle installed, you'll be happy you did.

What are 3 strong arguments as to why hand-held gadgets should be banned while driving?
Q. What are 3 arguments as to why hand-held gadgets should be banned while driving? What arguments could be raised on both sides of this issue? Would this law be a reasonable limit to our liberty? How would the courts decide any challenge to this law?
Asked by BANANA FACE - Sat May 16 22:31:28 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well here are my 3 points: 1.Takes your eyes off the road 2.Takes your mind off driving 3.You have one less hand on the steering wheel which can be crucial in a dangerous situation. See some people are able to grab a hand held gadget, use it fully, and still be as safe as if they weren't using it. The reason the law would be input would be for the people who can't do it. If you said you can use these gadgets on the road, that's not only saying for the good drivers, it's for EVERYONE...and that won't be a good thing. The main reason we have this rule is just so there is no chance of accidents. I hope it helped. =D

How do i update my wii firmware to 3.2 without using a game or via the internet?
Q. My current firmware is 3.1u and ve got homebrew installed so i dont want to update to 3.3u. But ive got some wads that are apperantly only playable with a 3.2u update. So how do i go about updating without going out and getting a specific game or going online w/ my wii. Is it possible through the homebrew channel or any way else?

A. You can only get an update over an internet connection. This is why you shouldn't use modchips or homebrew. Nintendo uses these updates to stop people who abuse their Wiis from playing the newest games.

What size 3 channel electric airplane or helicopter needed to lift 18 gram camera easily?
Q. I want to buy a three channel trainer airplane or coax heli that will easily lift 18 grams of camera, hopefully one that does not take 3 hours to charge, and if possible, under 100 dollars. I'd like to shoot at or above 50 feet in 5 mph wind.
Asked by ELKRIVERSCOTT - Wed Jul 29 02:44:37 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. That is nearly impossible. There is no 3 channel helicopter that is under $100 and capable of flying 50 feet in 5 MPH. Coaxial helicopters can only fly in calm conditions. You need at least a fixed pitched or pitched helicopter to fly in wind. You could purchase a used Blade CP on ebay. That is around $100. It takes less than 3 hours to charge.

What are 3 common materials used for medical radiation protection?
Q. I was wondering what are 3 (or more) most common materials used in the protection of patients and hospital personnel during medical diagnostic procedures? These materials need to be able to shield against x-rays, alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. Also, is there any reputable web sources that I can get reference from? Thanks alot!
Asked by Angela - Sat Mar 24 23:48:55 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. One of the most common materials used is the lead sheet. Lead is very good at blocking all forms of radiation, and it is relatively easy to find. (Mineral ore extraction) Another is concrete, assuming that the protection specified includes protection from the equipment from outside the room itself. You need 1cm of lead, or 6cm of concrete to protect people from radiation. Not sure of any other materials though.
