Bachelor of Fine Arts is for visual or performing arts - such as musical theatre, dance, visual effects, photography, etc. Bachelor of Arts is for liberal arts - such as English literature, history, philosophy, political science, etc. As for one being better than the other, it really depends on what you want to do after university. A BA is more practical if you're not aiming for a visual/performing arts career. But then again, getting BA doesn't guarantee you a job either.
