What does h stand for in the derivative equation?
Q. I'm currently just beginning Barron's Calculus made easy and I think I'm missing something really important in the derivative equation. What does h stand for in f(x-h)? Is it the y intercept? x-intercept? Is it a constant? It's been a year since I completed pre-calc, so maybe it's something I learned and forgot. But I can't seem to find the answer to this, and I don't think I'll get it until I know what h represents...so any help?

A. When you use that definition, the difference of quotients, you have to take the change in position with respect to 2 points. The second point is the point f(x + h), that is some distance "h" from the original point "x". The smaller you make h, the better approximation of the tangent you will have. That's why when you use that definition, they put it in a limit where h ---> 0 (that is, the smaller h becomes, the smaller the secant line, the smaller the difference between a secant and tangent!). Secant is different from tangent, but if you make the distance between the two points in a secant very small, you pretty much have a tangent. What is the relationship between Jeff Hardy and Triple H outside of the ring?
Q. In wrestling Triple H and Jeff Hardy almost seem to be friends. But in real life triple H is extremely political and is widely disliked.

A. Actually, they really are friends outside the ring. Triple H was responsible for Jeffs push in late 2007 and early 2008. I think though, that Shawn Michaels liking Jeff rubbed off in Triple H. I remember when HBK took Jeff under his wing years ago, i think Triple H kinda caught some of that too. But Triple H does like Jeff Hardy, if you see they have this history; Jeffs first IC win was against Triple H, Jeff beating Triple H last year for the #1 contender spot, Triple H just about got the win at No Mercy and now it looks like he could well be getting the title from Triple H. It just seems to me that Triple H enjoys putting Jeff over and everytime it looks like he would have no problem doing it again. Now, everyone says Triple H has… [cont.]

Is Preparation H the best thing to apply to hemroids?
