P is the sixteenth letter of the basic modern Latin alphabet. Its name in English (pronounced /ˈpiː/) is spelled pee.

History

The Semitic Pê (mouth), as well as the Greek Π or π (Pi), and the Etruscan and

Usage

In English and most other European languages, P is a voiceless bilabial plosive. Both initial and final Ps can be combined with many other discrete consonants in English words. A common example of assimilation is the tendency of prefixes ending in N to assume an M sound before Ps (such as "in" + "pulse" → "impulse" — see also List of Latin words with English derivatives).

A common digraph in English is "ph", which represents the voiceless labiodental fricative /f/, and can be used to transliterate Phi (φ) in loanwords from Greek. In German, the digraph "pf" is common, representing a labial affricate of /pf/.

Arabic speakers are usually unaccustomed to pronouncing /p/; they pronounce it as /b/.

How to prove p*q divides a if p and q are different primes and a is an integer?
Q. If both p and q are different primes dividing the integer a, then p*q divides a. I cannot figure out how to get started on this proof.

A. Can you get each of p divides a and q divides a? If so , then write a = pn, (p divides a). Since you have q divides a then you have q divides pn because a=pn. Now q divides pn but q does not divide p since p and q are different primes. Therefore q must divide n, so write n = qm ( m is an integer). Combine this with a = pn to get a = p(qm) = (pq)m and you have pq divides a.

What is the fastest way to make 200 P&J sandwiches?
Q. I want to feed the homeless. I estimate that I need about 200 P&J sandwiches. It is only me & my wife. What is the fastest way to make them? Also, do p&j sandwiches expire/go bad? If so, after how many days?

A. Get a bid table and break down the job into its parts. Lay out the bread in rows, and make sure that the PB & J are at room temperature, it will be easier to spread and that will make things go faster. Use a rubber spatula, you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. With a good dollop of PB or J, you should be able to spread 3-4 slices before a reload. Since there are two of you, break up the work but be aware that if you are doing the same job you may start to get in each others way. You both need to stay on your own side of the table, and you should be sharing nothing. If you need a spatula and a jar of PB, then you have your own. Sharing tools takes time, so don't do it when you cook. Once your PB&J are in place, one of you needs… [cont.]
