You can put the 401(k) contributions into the 401(k)'s money market fund account. It can sit there forever it you want. You don't have to put it into stocks or bonds or other funds until you feel ready. Answered by Net Advisor - Thu Aug 21 13:31:09 2008 What happens to the resting potential of a neuron as extracellular K+ concentration is increased? Q. In this case, assume that there will be no change to intracellular K+ concentration. I had thought that the potential becomes more negative, especially considering no change in intracell. K+ concentration; but apparently that's wrong. Also, what would happen to an action potential under these conditions. Asked by Dr. J - Sat Mar 21 10:07:06 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Assuming that the concentrations of Na+, like the intracellular concentration of K+, does not significantly change, an increase in extracellular K+ concentration results in a decrease in resting membrane potential (that is, it becomes less negative). This, in turn, produces a decrease in the force of contraction, and the rate at which action potential travels across the muscle. In extreme cases ( hyperkalemia ), the rate may be slowed so far that "ectopic" pacemakers can emerge in the ventricles. Therefore, one of the major effects of this condition is an increase in muscle cell excitability, because their resting potential is closer to the threshold for generating action potentials, and the equilibrium potential of K+ is positively… [cont.] Answered by LAlawMedMBA - Wed Mar 25 06:43:37 2009 How can I improve my 5-K time? I'm about to be a softmore in high school and need to get faster?
Q. I need to improve my 5-K time for cross country. I now have a 3 mile time of 19:40. How much is the right amount to run over the summer? How can I shred my time? Asked by Gil W - Sat Jun 21 13:56:08 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is no right amount to how much you should run over the summer you should push yourself to the limits but don't go so hard that you injure yourself. You should be doing a mixed day schedule running 5-6 days a week. One day do a short fast run like a 2-3 mile run. The next day do a really long slow run of about 6-7 miles. Then the third day should be a mix of both at about 4-5 miles. You shouldn't run all 7 days because your body needs to rest. Also work on your ab strength because I have found that it is really helpful. All these distances can be adjusted to what you feel comfortable with but, good luck and keep running.
