Asked by Aidan C - Sun May 18 11:05:28 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. the y chromosome is considered to be genetically inert - there is nothing really useful on there (ok with one or two exceptions), as demonstrated by women, who survive just fine without a Y chromosome. the x chromosome has lots of genetic material which is necessary for living. therefore what you are suggesting is the same as eliminating a chromosome altogether. if you were to somehow experimentally manipulate an embryo to be YY, then it would be non-viable, as essential genetic information would be missing. Q. Hi y'all, I'm expecting our daughter in about 2.5 weeks and have pretty much everything we need for her, but then I realized we don't have a crib mirror. There are SO MANY to choose from, it's confusing. Are there any that you recommend? Any types/styles you would avoid? At what age do infants usually get interested in them?
