How do I input equations in terms of y on a graphing calculator?
Q. I have a TI 84. I want to know how to input equations that are in terms of y so I could graph them. Such as instead of inputting y=x-6, input x=y-6, or simply equations with constant such as x=6.

A. you can't put x= into the calculator, you have to solve for y first than put what y equals into your calculator x=6 is a straight line going vertically where x=6

A. In an equation to a line, y = mx + b, the y-intercept (b) is the starting location, or the value for y when x is 0. In an arithmetic sequence, such as u_0 = 1, u_1 = 3, u_2 = 5, etc. u_0 is the place you are starting from. Similarly, your slope, m (rate of change between any two points), corresponds to the common difference, the distance between each successive term in the sequence. The only difference is that arithmetic sequences require integer (whole number) values for the n-s: "u_n = ", whereas the x-values in the "y = " equation can be any real number you can find.

What does the regression constant (y intercept) of a regression line equation tell you?
Q. For example: in terms of weight as a function of height? I calculated the regression line and my regression constant is very small (-496 or so) what does this tell me besides it determines the elevation of the line and that its the y intercept.

Very generally - it gives you an idea of (in your case) how much weight you would have if you had no height (I'm surprised your line has a regression constant, since it's difficult to have weight when you have no height and vice versa, but if you've taken sample data, the fact that it's small shows that your data is generally along the right lines)! Since the regression constant is not determined by the value of your variable (x), it represents the amount of your total value not determined by your variable (i.e. the amount of y not determined by x).
