Youth is the period between childhood and adulthood, described as the period of physical and psychological development from the onset of puberty to maturity and early adulthood. Definitions of the specific age range that constitutes youth vary. An individual's actual maturity may not correspond to their chronological age, as immature individuals exist at all ages.

Usage

Around the world the terms "youth", "adolescent", "teenager", and "young person" are interchanged, often meaning the same thing, occasionally differentiated. Youth generally refers to a time of life that is neither childhood nor adulthood, but rather somewhere in-between. Youth also identifies a particular mindset of attitude, as in "He is very youthful". The term youth is also related to being young.

"This world demands the qualities of youth: not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the life of ease." - Robert Kennedy \

Youth is an alternative word to the scientifically-oriented adolescent and the common terms of teen and teenager. Another common title for youth is young person or young people.

How could I promote my organization: Youth for Change to help Christian youth of Pakistan?
Q. The Christians in Pakistan are about 2% of its population. The Christian youth needs help to learn job skills and educate themselves -- they need lot of information on the kind of education they should go for in order to excel in it. They need business education so that they could initiate their own businesses and find success in it. They need to learn internet and English to enhance their knowledge. There is a need to help male students to find better education and better job so that they could marry with the well literate Christian females, at present there is an unbalance among the sexes at that level which has created social problems . At present there is a need to motivate young people to take up their responsibilities and work hard… [cont.]

A. Take the help of Gen Musharraf but don't agree if he offers to open Madrassas for Christians in Pakistan or he'll turn them into Jehadis!

A. Low income residents in all cities need weeds pulled, small household repairs, painting, and other things that doesn't take a professional...just time.

How do you start a youth center?
Q. I have found that there is NOTHING positive and cool for kids to do in my city. Aside from eating and going to the movies there are no cool park or recreational events for the teenagers. I think this breeds problems. I would like to open a youth center complete with all sports (realistically i mean) a computer lab, and different activities yet offer it at a price that low to middle income families can afford. Any ideas on funding?

A. It isn't just funding Poppet, you have to be trained to a certain extent for this sort of work. Not too long back I was seriously thinking of setting up a Rehab help centre for Addicts and Alcoholics. The draw back being you have to have trained and professional staff . Sadly where I live there are not that many out of work or ready to give themselves to Addicts. If You really want to do this and put in all the hard work and Homework, you will be surprised how many out there will help you with funding.

Popular use of the word Youth refers to a person who is neither an adult nor a child, but somewhere in between, scientifically referred to as an adolescent and, in most English speaking countries, commonly referred to as a teen or teenager. It is used to identify a particular mindset of attitude, as in "He is very youthful". In various social, political, cultural, and legal contexts, the word "youth" refers to a pre-determined set of experiences, ideals, and perspectives.
