How many authors through time have written about Alexander the Great compared to Jesus Christ?

A. If I recall correctly, only 1 author wrote about Alexander. The difference being, of course, the existence of external sources.

A. Never happened. At the time of Alexander Latin was a language spoken by an obscure tribe on the edge of the Etruscan empire. Even if Alexander had heard of them there was no way he would speak the language.

What was the blackmail attempt that forced Alexander Hamilton to resign?
Q. Alexander Hamilton one of our founding fathers, was the only New Yorkian to sign the constitution, the first Secretary of the Treasury he resigned in 1795, because of a blackmail attempt that embarrased him. What was the exact attempt, where can i get more information on it and on Alex himself? Also what was his beef with this Burr dude, why did they duel and he get killed. In one of my articles it calls him his 'bitter personal enemy' Why? Thank You!

A. In 1791, Hamilton became involved in an affair with Maria Reynolds that badly damaged his reputation. Reynolds' husband, James, blackmailed Hamilton for money, threatening to inform Hamilton's wife. But this wasn't what caused him to resign as Treasury Secy. "Hamilton's conduct as Secretary was repeatedly investigated in Congress; some of the most serious charges emerged in the spring of 1794. In addition to the Reynolds affair, mentioned below, an incident from 1790 then came to light: Congress had appropriated money to pay the European creditors of the United States, and Hamilton had diverted part of the sum to domestic expenditure. Hamilton claimed that he had been authorized to act by Washington, but could provide no evidence. When… [cont.]

Q. What do you think would have happened to his Empire and how much further would have it expanded. Would we be talking about Alexander's Empire as being ONE OF the biggest Empires in the history of mankind?
Asked by kop_89 - Wed Jul 9 21:27:03 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. His son, Alexander IV, would probably have survived to adulthood, meaning that his Empire would remain united under one king. Just before his death, Alexander was building up a fleet to attack Carthage with (the fleet was used in the Civil War between his successors), and he definitely had the intent of upholding Greek control of Sicily. Carthage probably would fall to him, and he might have moved on to fight the Romans. Livy certainly thought this would be the case. In book 9 of Ab Urb Condidta, he speculates what would have happened. Naturally he assumed Rome would win. He wrote "I do not dispute that Alexander was an exceptional general, but his reputation is enhanced by the fact that he died while still young and before he had time… [cont.]

What where the negative effects of Alexander the Great's death?
Q. So far my topic for a global term paper is: The death of Alexander the Great lead to the destruction of the Alexander Empire. Due to the fact he didn't have a heir to his thrown, 3 generals ended up divided the empire up into Macedonia and Greece, Egypt, and Persia. This caused Classical Greece to become Hellenistic Greece. But im not sure how to fix it or alborate, so can someone answer the above question ?
Asked by ekrjektkn - Tue Nov 11 17:15:54 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'd rather not write your essay, but I'll give you points =) By not naming an heir, that led to chaos, so you can write about how that created distrust/rivalries/jealou sies in the empire. By dividing, the empire(s) became much much much weaker and much more susceptible to attack and invasion. perhaps something on how/if nations took advantage of that and why/why not. What effects did the change of greece have? how did it literally change? why? How did it effect the way of life?

A. It is true that he wanted to conquer the whole world and he probably would've had not his soldier protested to go on to china. But I don't think he was greedy to get asia, he was a very kind man, listened to his troops, gave them good salaries, and much more. I think he was just following his fathers dream to conquer all of asia. And if you don't know his fathers name was Philip the 2nd I believe.

A. Alexander, on his deathbed said his kingdom would go to "The Strongest" IN which Case, his empire was split into many parts of his successors, who were called (collectively) as the Diadochi (sounds Japanese, I know) His Empire was split into 3 main parts. Cassander, took the Macedonian homeland. Ptolemy, took over Egypt (all pharaohs after him known as Ptolemy, or Cleopatra) and Seleucus took the Persian Empire (majority of the Middle East, excluding Turkey) Lysymachus took over the region of Asia Minor (majority of Turkey) And Phyrrus of Epirus took a small portion of his empire, and even became king of Macedon for a while.

How was Alexander the Great able to conquer the world with the Mycenaean logistical supremacy?
Q. If you were to argue that Alexander the Great was able to conquer most of the world because of his army's logistical supremacy, what points could you bring into the conversation? I'm looking for a "cause" and "benefit" relationship, and what would happen if they didn't have these logistics. quick example: An army marches on it's stomach, so the ability to feed the soldiers was what helped the army continue on long campaigns. Otherwise the army would have had to come back after the food ran out. Serious answers only please. Sorry, Macedonian
Asked by Johnny B - Sat Nov 8 09:16:19 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well he wasn't always careful of his logistics as his march across the Gedrosian desert showed. The fleet he thought would resupply him never made contact with his army which was marching inland on the far side of the coastal mountains. He supposedly lost three-quarters of the troops with him. (Much of his baggage train had been sent overland via a different route via Afghanistan). That said, he usually had one of his generals in command of the logistics. At one point he had Parmenion killed precisely because he controlled his supply lines. (Parmenion's son was implicated in a plot against Alexander.) As for the claim in the previous answer that "Napoleon and Hitler could have taken over Russia, but they invaded in the winter; which… [cont.]

A. The phalanx was used as a pivot by Alexander in battle, the decisive blow being delivered by the cavalry. Chaeronea 338 BC Granicus 334 BC Issus 333 BC Gaugamela 331 BC Hydaspes 326 BC were all battles where Alexander used the phalanx to pin the attention of his enemies while preparing the decisive cavalry charge that brought victory.
