How do the wives of Brutus and Caesar try to influence their husbands?
Q. In Julius Caesar, how do the wives of Brutus and Caesar try to influence their husbands? Are they successful or unsuccessful?
Asked by Sophie - Wed Jan 27 20:47:26 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Brutus and Caesar's wives are both unsuccessful. Caesar's wife tries to influence him by telling him to stay away from the capitol on the ides of March because she had a bad dream. At first Caesar agrees but then is convinced otherwise by Decius. I'm not sure exactly how Portia tries to influence brutus, but she tries to make him feel compelled to tell her about everything that's going on, which he never does do.

How can I make good caesar salad without a fresh egg?
Q. I love caesar salad but it seems that it is getting more dangerous every day to use a fresh egg. If there a good substitute that will give it the same consistency?
Asked by lulu - Thu Dec 14 15:15:00 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The whole raw egg thing is blown way out of proportion these days. It's not that bad, and it still happens often. That said... You can use EggBeaters or any other pasteurized egg products with almost the same results, if you want to be extra careful. Enjoy!

In Julius Caesar, when does Antony use convincing words to influence character development or choices?
Q. One example is Antony telling the people of Rome that Brutus is not an honorable man for killing Caesar. Antony's words were convincing, which influenced the common people's decision to go after Brutus and kill him. Can you give another example of where Antony uses convincing words to influence character development?
Asked by Koopa Troopa - Wed Dec 10 11:38:32 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. From Shmoop Lit/Antony in Julius Caesar 3.2.169: After making a big show of reading the will, Antony has gathered all the mourners around Caesar s corpse, and goes down to them. All this dramatic effect being built up, he goes over a few of Caesar s wounds, pointing out which conspirator stabbed him where. He particularly chides Brutus, saying that it was Brutus s ingratitude that killed Caesar if he hadn t seen Brutus betray him, maybe Caesar s strong heart would ve survived the 32 other wounds. Right. He drives the point home by mentioning how Caesar s body lay gracelessly at the base of Pompey s statue, full of traitors wounds. Antony emphasizes this again, and realizes the people are beginning to stir to mutiny.

How to fix caesar dressing that turns out to be too sour?
Q. I made a "close-to-perfect" caesar salad dressing. The only thing was that it was too sour for me (and other people tasted it). I measured the ingredients according to the original recipe, but I never thought that Indonesian lemon can be way more sour than the recipe had anticipated. Can I fix this? I dont want to throw it away since I used the best parmesan cheese found in my town, and it doesnt seem right to just toss it in the trash can. Please help!

A. Personality and reputation Caesar was not and is not lovable. His generosity to defeated opponents, magnanimous though it was, did not win their affection. He won his soldiers devotion by the victories that his intellectual ability, applied to warfare, brought them. Yet, though not lovable, Caesar was and is attractive, indeed fascinating. His political achievement required ability, in effect amounting to genius, in several different fields, including administration and generalship besides the minor arts of wire pulling and propaganda. In all these, Caesar was a supreme virtuoso. But if he had not also been something more than this he would not have been the supremely great man that he undoubtedly was. Caesar was great beyond and even… [cont.]

Q. How did the rise of Julius Caesar threaten the republic yet could be seen as the salvation at the same time ? How does this justify Brutus and the senators plot to kill him ? How does this reflect the views of the assassination of Lincoln in the United States ?

A. Julius Caesar came to power through the use of his image as a populares or popular politician representing the masses and through his military victories over the Germanic tribes in Gaul and his victories in Egypt. Like his uncle Marius, Caesar championed the popular causes of the plebian classes of Rome and championed the settlement of Rome's troops to give them land to settle. This put him at odds with the senatorial patrician classes, who controlled Roman politics. Caesar was an outsider in Roman Politics. While he did have patrician blood, Caesar's familiy were never senators But had to attain political power and prestige by other means. For example, Caesar's family consisted of Marius, who held the position of consul 7 times and… [cont.]

A. If you like tragedies and you especially liked Julius Caesar, you would probably enjoy Antony and Cleopatra. You might also consider including some of histories in your bibliography -- ie. Richard II and III, Henry IV, etc. Other good tragedies are Othello, Hamlet, and Macbeth (The Scottish Play). Here is a complete list of Shakespeare's plays with links to the complete text: Hope this helps.

How many warnings of his death does Julius Caesar get?
Q. From the play: "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare I know there is the soothsayer and then Calpurnia has a dream right? Thanks!
Asked by hodgesgirl357 - Wed Feb 18 18:00:12 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Soothsayer warns him three times. Calpurnia has a dream, and has a bad feeling, but I'm not sure if that would be considered a warning. Then that one guy (forget his name, sorry, it was last year) has a note for him, but Caesar kind of ignores him. That's all I can think of, sorry it's not precise.

Ah, well...goddess dressing tastes very similar to Caesar dressing and it's vegan. Annie's Naturals and Trader Joe's makes good stuff. Goddess dressing is a staple in our house. I keep wanting to try and make my own, but I have yet to try it. Here's a recipe that claims to taste similar to Annie's: This vegan Caesar recipe sounds really good, too...it's got almonds and nutritional yeast to give it a parmesan cheesey effect:
