Why do people ask people from the INTERNET important medical questions concerning themselves?
Q. Why do people ask people from the internet important medical questions concerning themselves? I am baffled at some of the medical questions I see people asking about themselves on here, especially when they have already been given an answer from there doctor which they have visited on the issue. Why do they not ask there doctor these questions, or get a second opinion from another doctor. I am amazed that people would turn to people from the internet, who they do not know, to answer a question concerning there health, and welfare. What are your views on this?
Asked by rpryor4 - Mon Oct 27 11:39:41 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Some people are asking out of curiosity, maybe someone can give them some insight, or maybe someone has experience the same thing, or things to think about before going to the doctor. But when some people come on here and ask what shall I do my baby has had fever for days now, or questions like that .. is beyond me. Those people are just stupid. Common sense would tell anyone with brains when to ask and when to call or head to the doctor.

Why do people make fun of others when walking down the street?
Q. Why do people find the need to laugh at someone who's just minding their own business walking down the street? I'm talking about snickering, giving dirty looks, whispering and pointing to their friends to laugh too or making sure that the person sees them laugh. I can't understand why people would do this since the person is not bothering anybody... Why would people do this, since I've seen this rude behavior coming from multiple people? Some people say its because of a lack of self-esteem but isnt that being kind of nice about it? To me it seems just really mean and spiteful.

A. Where do you live?! I have never witnessed anything like that in my life. If someone did that to me i'd punch them in the face. I don't know why anyone would do this, but I think you just need to be a man and assert dominance over them. I wouldn't let anyone do that to me..

How can people be so ignorant and beleive negative lies the media says about muslims?
Q. I find alot of people judge islam and muslim people when they don't even know what islam is. The media sends out negative messages of islam being a violent faith how can people judge when they don't know what the islamic teaching is. And they don't realise that islam is probably the only religion that is most anti-war and anti-crime. Its very irritating knowing thatso many people have fallen for the media's lies.
Asked by eee - Sun Sep 6 08:45:46 2009 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments
A. *Sighs* Sorry, but the media doesn't paint all Muslims as violent; it points out that the extremists are a minority. However, claiming it to be the most anti-war is borderline fallacious; claiming it to be the most anti-crime is a flat-out falsehood. Islamic nations are home to some extreme examples of human rights abuse, especially as regards women's rights.

Why some people start to giggle when they see people of opposite sex naked?
Q. This never happened to me. Since I was a kid I have seen people of the opposite sex naked of all ages but never happened to me to giggle or to laugh because of that. Are people who laugh when they see people of opposite sex naked possesed of a demon? Or why do they do that?

A. It's a nervous response -- a way to react when the proper way is unknown to the giggler. Most will improve with patient instruction and the opportunity to become comfortable with whatever had previously caused the giggling.

What do people often forget to consider when choosing a breed?
Q. What should people consider why starting to choose a breed? What is often overlooked when people fall in love with a breed? Does this generally happen because people don't consider it at all, or because they think they can make the dog adapt to it because they really want the breed even though it isn't a good fit? What were some of the worst breed choices you have seen people make?
Asked by sciencechick - Mon Nov 17 17:23:29 2008 - - 15 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The most overlooked would be the dog's energy level, grooming needs and basic breed characteristics. It's appalling to me that people think they can keep a breed like a german shepherd or border collie in an apartment. Or think a dog like a lab is good with a half hour walk a day. My pet peeve is people who buy a gorgeous, long-haired breed (afghans come to mind!), then keep their hair cut short because they're too bloody lazy to groom the dog. Then there's those who are dismayed because their terriers dig and bark, their beagles bay, etc. Too many people in this world of instant gratification are lacking the common sense to research a breed before getting it - then when they find they can't groom, train or exercise it, the dog ends… [cont.]

How many people die in an average hospital in one day?
Q. I am going to be volunteering on Saturday nights in the ER at a fairly large hospital. For any ER doctors/nurses or hospital administrators, on *average*, how many people would you say die in a normal ER at one hospital in a single day? How about in the entire hospital (including failed operations and just really sick people)? I guess I just want to know what to expect - are there really several people dying every day (like on TV), or is it more like a handful of people every week?

A. I worked at a large hospital in Texas and we rarely had people dying daily. Most of the ones that died were older people with terminal diseases. There were many weekends that there were no deaths in the ER.

How can I prevent people from taking advantage of me constantly and not live in regret?
Q. Everyone I have been dealing with in business has been letting me down in so many ways that I just want to disappear. I am constantly sorry dealing with people after losing my money, energy and time. I am losing with each and every single one of them. I am constantly making mistakes with the people I choose to trust and work with. I give more respect to these people than I give to myself and then they spit on me or rudly ignor me and take the money and literally run. I have robed myself of too much all the time and I know better but I give people the benefit of the doubt anyway. How can I change and what can I do to stop being so nice to people who don't care about me. I am far from being finanically rich and everyone knows this, so… [cont.]

A. Business is business. Figure out what you need to make in order to make a sufficient profit and stick to it. "Nice" should not be in a business vocabulary. "Friendly, good service, good product, timely", these are business words. People will always take what they can get. It's up to you to present your business in an attractive way and still make a profit. Figure out what your true investment is, decide on a price, and have the confidence to be firm about it. Find other reasons why people will want what you have,i.e. quality, style, exclusivity, speed, etc. Sell those points.

Why are there evil people in the world? What causes people to commit evil crimes?

A. Well.. each one differs from the other, who doesn't agree at this?! No one. But what makes them different, as in good and bad? This is what you're probably looking at for your journal, except you're referencing to 'evil in human'. Philosophy and Theology once had a debate about the cause of evil in the world like hypothesizing whether it s a metaphysical nature (which competes with goodness) or because of the free will of humankind; simply free will vs. determinism. Many religious beliefs also state that it s because of a devil and his fault; uhh.. Hellooo, is it God s fault then for creating the devil?! All these kinds of debates are boundless, and are based on opinions, like that s what philosophy is, ri? But think about this … [cont.]

Q. I've heard that people are inclined to stare at good-looking people or the adverse. I do not have an answer, except that in spite of what we do, we can't control the hidden destiny. Smokers can live to old age, and the good die young. Another friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer and given just days to live. 25 years later, he is totally cured. He has a very unusual look at life today.

Do people understand the difference between LOCAL and FEDERAL government?
Q. I see people on here that rant on and on about health care justifying it by having schools, firefighters, police etc. Do people realize that these are at the local and state level and NOT the federal level. When me town talks about the police, firefighters and schools (which I might add we are an independent school here) we do it at the city council meeting and the people in the town decide what to do, not some Washington bureaucrat.

Q. I have a myspace and have friends on it but just got the facebook. However, how do I start adding people from my school without looking like a creep and then run into them on campus. I do want to meet new people but I dont know too many people at my school. I just don't want to add random people. Transferring to my university from JC makes it harder. I graduated h.s. in 01, before all this social networking craze and not too many people my graduting year are on them. The people I actually talk to in class or at school are not on facebook.

How many people hate people who smoke weed but never tried it yourself?
Q. Just wondering, it seems the only people who hate it are the people who haven't tried it.

A. I agree. A LOT of people against it have never had any real life experience with it. They are basing their opinion on propaganda, or blaming the troubles of a loved on who is an addict of some harder drug on marijuana (there is a troll around here who makes posts often about hating marijuana and people who use it... i have found out over several posts that he lost someone close to hard drug addiction, and he blames marijuana because it was the first illegal drug the person had used). I think a lot of people should be more open to marijuana. I get that some people may not like it or want to use it, but to go to the point where they literally think less of a person because they use it, or they hate a person because they use it, I think… [cont.]

How does spirituality help people understand the universe in which we live?
Q. I don t think it does at all; I think spirituality is really just a coping mechanism that people have invented and that is not based on any evidence or rational thought process. Spirituality is the sand in which people stick their heads like ostriches when the truth gets too hard for them to accept. But religious people (especially Catholics for some reason) keep telling me that science and spirituality are two methods of understanding the universe. How can imaginary nonsense help people understand the universe?

A. It won't help you obviously but for those of us who believe it helps a lot. Knowing the creation teaches us about the Creator, and knowing the Creator tells us a lot about His creation. Maybe it is you who have your head stuck in the sand. Think about it.

Why do people ask questions of a Philosophical nature and yet applaud a non-philosophical response?
Q. I find more and more that people ask questions that seem like they are philosophical in nature and yet are really questions that do not seek truths, but more seek an opinion that either rivals thier own or cannot be pondered due to the lack of clarity in the question. This is more a question of Human Nature than anything. Is it because people need to feel agreed with? What is it that makes a Phlosophical question viable? Do we ask, just to hear a myriad of answers or are we just curious of other minds? Any answers will do... Just thinking aloud. Answers about people being stupid and like, while recorded and possibly laughed over, will not be taken seriously. And yes, I am well aware of the Irony of the question being in the Philosophy… [cont.]

A. great questions!! This is exactly how i feel about whats happening in this category. I often like to correct ppl's questions either because i feel they are not clear or that they simply make no sense at all. Sometimes i feel that ppl get offended by what i do but I had to do something because some of these questions i saw were just dead confusing. For some reason even when the questions seemed to make sense, the asker didn't expect a rational and logical response instead they wanted an answer that matched their opinion which wasn't related any kind of truth except their own truth - something thats impossible to find out for anyone who does not have the ability to read minds. One thing i would encourage ppl to do is to assess the… [cont.]
